Getting Started in Cyber is an introductory series from the IIBA CyberSIG for business analysts and change practitioners who want to build their cybersecurity fluency. Each session offers an informal and accessible introduction to one of the key areas that business analysts need to know about. These sessions are presented virtually and do not require any prior knowledge of cybersecurity. If you've spent your career in change delivery and you're now working in or around security-relevant projects, this series is for you. It's hosted by Ahila Puvitharan, with a guest practitioner joining for
each topic.

What the Series Covers

Cybersecurity has moved from a specialist concern at the edge of change work to something most BAs need a working knowledge of. The series is an informal and accessible introduction to a subject that is steadily becoming more critical with each passing year. It runs across six monthly sessions,
each on a topic you're likely to meet in real projects.

You don't need any prior cybersecurity experience to take part. The series is built on skills you already have: knowing how change happens, eliciting requirements from stakeholders, and turning those conversations into the kind of analysis that informs better decisions.

Each session will be held virtually and will run for up to an hour. The guest practitioner opens with a short talk, followed by a relaxed and interactive discussion where you can ask questions about the topic. There's optional virtual networking afterwards, so you can meet other BAs at the same stage.
Ahila shares suggested pre-reading ahead of each session for anyone who'd like to follow along; no preparation is required.

Who It's For

The series is aimed at change practitioners who:

Early-career BAs who are interested in cybersecurity are also very welcome.

If you're already working in cybersecurity, you might also want to take a look at the CyberSIG Expert Insights series, which goes into more depth on advanced topics.
